Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze,
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees,
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in.

Sea breeze, a sharply curving coastline and a bunch of art deco buildings facing nothingness. I miss it.

You seem to be a student. How old are you? 22? 24?

My mother used to sing this to me when I was a child. I am now 50. I sang it to my children.

How come you know this song? Who taught you?

Thanks for bringing it back to me.

Hey! I'm 21 and a student..I love Jazz music and had heard some Bing Crosby in passing, which I really liked. So while downloading some of his music, I came accross this song - Don't Fence Me In. It has grown to become one of my all time favourite songs. I'm so glad it made you happy!

Yes, Bing Crosby sings it. There is also a Gene Autry version. The movie is Hollywood Canteen.....Roy Rodgers. All six-guns a blazing !!!! Its really, really ancient for a 21year old.

I came across your blog while searching for old country songs.

Music apart, you write very well. Keep in up.

Yes, that old song made my day very bright indeed !

Try Billy Halliday, Gene Kelly etc for the same genre of songs.
